Hello JGES Families,

Families, I am sorry this forecast wasn't sent on the weekend.  There was a scheduling error on my end.
  I am excited to announce that we have a new school counselor, Meghan MacPherson, that has recently joined our school.  Mrs MacPherson will be with us 2.5 days a week.   We are currently consulting our teachers to see what needs they are seeing in class and how we can support them with our new counsellor. Families can also self-refer by email at Meghan.MacPherson@hrce.ca   

As part of African Heritage Month Guest Dr. Henry Bishop who doing a drumming workshop with our students. The upper grades will have an hour and the lower grades ½ hour with a final assembly the following week.  It is called F.U.N. with Drumswith a focus on mindfulness, mental health & wellness and Therapeutic African Drumming for Children.  We are excited to welcome Dr. Bishop back to Joseph Giles Elementary.
 

Monday was Heritage Day.  This year NS is recognizing William Hall.  “Who is William Hall?” was our AHM question on the day on Friday.
